Inglemoor: September 2025 Construction Update

Work started at the beginning of the summer, in a race to prepare Inglemoor High School’s campus for the 2025-26 school year. It took months of surveying existing conditions and close coordination between all parties involved to untangle the existing utilities. Several buildings were completely demolished to make way for the new project, and the remaining buildings were all checked and reconnected to the campus-wide communication, fire protection, power, and heating systems.

Building 300 also received a renovation to ensure all the school’s programs have the right facilities to operate while the new building is in progress. Since the Concert Hall now houses the music department, their old rooms were converted for the robotics and food and nutrition programs.

The final key to be ready for this school year was the division of the site. Several reviews of the security and screening walls by the school, the district, the city, and the construction team, have ensured a sturdy protection barrier draws the line between students and construction. While the debris and heavy equipment stay on the construction site, students and teachers can keep an eye on the project’s progress through a few select plexiglass window locations.

Work back by the tennis courts made significant progress this summer, including the installation of an underground stormwater detention pipe system. Completing this early in the project limits the need for site ponds and allows greater control of the water quality during construction, ensuring the onsite wetlands are protected. Also in this field, drilling for the geothermal wells got underway. The drilling truck, shown below, can get the piping down 350 feet so the school can take advantage of the earth’s heat right under our feet and reduce operational costs.

Moving into October, the project is looking forward to getting started on the foundations of the new building itself.

This project was made possible by the generous support of Northshore voters, who approved the 2022 Capital Bond.
